Allergan Partners with Girls Inc. for Mentorship Initiative Empowering Future Female Leaders Partnership to enlist board of physician mentors, preparing girls to explore career opportunities in the healthcare industry

DUBLIN, IRELAND – MARCH 1, 2019 – Allergan plc (NYSE: AGN) today announced a national partnership and mentoring initiative with Girls Inc., a non-profit organization that delivers life-changing programs to help girls navigate social, economic and gender barriers, as they look to higher education and career paths.

Together, Allergan and Girls Inc. are encouraging girls across the country to explore opportunities in the healthcare, science and medical fields. Allergan is enlisting strong, successful female physicians specializing in dermatology and plastic surgery, to serve as
mentors encouraging personal and professional development. To celebrate the launch of this partnership, The Allergan Foundation will provide philanthropic support with a $25,000 donation to Girls Inc.

“According to Girls Inc, 89% of their girls are interested in math and science, and it’s important to introduce a girl to a variety of role models- especially women- so she does not limit her dreams. Allergan is committed to develop current and future female leaders, which makes this
the perfect partnership to guide these girls towards opportunities in science, healthcare and medicine,” says Carrie Strom, Senior Vice President of Medical Aesthetics at Allergan. “The female dermatologists and plastic surgeons we work with already naturally mentor and support each other. I am inspired by how these doctors have each other’s backs and root for each other. They go out of their way to share clinical best practices, business advice, and tips for balancing work and family. Imagine the power and impact these doctors will have on these girls as they think about their futures!” Together, Allergan and Girls Inc. will host a series of mentoring events where high school girls will network directly with local women in healthcare, including the doctors and their staff. The goal is to expose the girls to a broad range of job options in healthcare, such as being a doctor, nurse, nurse practitioner, physician’s assistant, office manager, or medical assistant, as they look toward higher education and future careers. Beyond the events, these mentors will provide continued guidance, support and strategic direction to the participating girls.

The Allergan and Girls Inc. mentorship initiative will kick off with events in Irvine, New York City and Washington D.C., with the plan to expand into other communities throughout the year.
